I never like passing by an auto accident, especially one that looks like it was really bad, but living in New Jersey kind of means it's a regular part of life. So I'm on the Parkway this morning, and there's a huge backup, with the demolished vehicles taking up two of the three lanes. But when I finally get past, one of the cars is upside down and the roof on the driver's side is seriously smashed down.
One of the few accidents I actually saw happen involved a car that flipped and bounced from tires to roof and back until it landed on its roof, with the arm of the passenger sticking out the window, crushed between the roof and the door. Seeing this accident today brought back that image as if it were brand new. The only reason I didn't get worked up about it at the time is that I was trying to get to the doctor on time.
On my way back home, in addition to the stress from the testing, I was recalling the morning's accident and remembering the one from 20-something years ago, and it kind of makes me want to curl up into a ball. All I can find on the news is that the injuries were minor, and I hope that's the case, but it's really got me bothered. I want to know that the driver of that particular car is OK, and I'm not going to be able to get it out of my mind until I find out.

I hope you can find the info you need to set your mind at rest. I haven't witnessed many serious car wrecks in person, but being in a car crash is certainly stressful.
I was driving my daughter's car last year with her following in her ex's pickup and signaled a left turn, slowed and stopped, feeling bad for the 3 cars that I knew were behind me. As the car going the other direction cleared the intersection I began my turn and suddenly - out of nowhere from my perspective - an SUV came roaring up on my left side and clipped my left front quarter - going on into a deep ditch at high speed and starting to roll over. I was busy keeping my car from going into the ditch so didn't see what happened to the other car until I got stopped. Witnesses including my daughter and grandchildren said the SUV rolled 4 times!
I was still sitting in the car, taking inventory of myself (I was fine, just shaken) when the other driver crawled out of his wreck and began running up and down the ditch looking for his dog which has been thrown out or crawled out and ran off. Poor dog. We don't know if he ever was reunited with his owner.
It took many months before I stopped flinching when a car came up on me from the left rear, especially if it was red like that SUV.

I have been extremely fortunate when it comes to accidents. I've had other experiences that could be considered traumatic, but never been in a car wreck. If that happened to me now, I'd be in a bad place emotionally to let it go. So glad you came out of yours OK!
