The Orange Book is the FDA's drug database. Not only will it allow you to search for information on your drug, its various brand and generic formulations (and appearance, so you can see if you got a counterfeit) but it's also updated daily if there are changes or recalls or any other information that would be important to a patient taking medications. DrugBank provides the chemical makeup, mechanism of action, therapeutic indicators, and tons more about all medications. This link takes you to the alphabetical listing of medications. RxList is similar, but also has information from package inserts and contraindications for other medications and foods. Drugs.com has mostly the official information from packaging for both patients and prescribers, but I like this site best for its interaction checker, which is very easy to use and doesn't keep your list unless you want it to.
