I've had way too much practice with this in the past few months. Every single time I get to the last 4-6 feet of driveway, I feel almost compelled to just stop. It's a major effort to do just that last little bit. I hate it. This is actually everything, not just the snow - the end is actually in sight, and it's almost physically painful to resist the urge to not finish. I miss my Adderall so much.

A trick that sometimes works for me is to quit and go back 15 or so minutes later. In that break, my brain registers finishing the job as if it were a new task.
Unfortunately for my house, it doesn't always work.

Heh. The going back out and finishing would end up being my husband's job.

Which leads to the next question... Why are YOU shoveling snow to begin with???

I'm supposed to be all healed up. And I'm tired of resting. It's incredibly boring.

I find that sometimes I have to do the driveway is stages. Like you, I just can't manage to do it all at once. It gets increasingly painful to complete.

Are you sure you're not physically tired? I mean, it's pretty hard work and doing it all at once, especially if you're not very fit to begin with, is very tiring.

There is that, but this is the same thing that happens with undemanding tasks. I often call my home "The Land of Unfinished Projects."

I just refer to my home as an Unfinished Project. It works for me.
I also quit apologizing for it. In my opinion, a healthy move.
Edit- I obviously can't punctuate.

Don't worry about the snow. It will melt away in spring anyway
