The following are government-run sites with fairly comprehensive information and lots of information and links to other resources. You can learn quite a bit about ADHD from any of them. National Institute of Mental Health - Introduction page on ADHD. This is an entire section with information on diagnostic criteria and research findings. Go to the "Publications" tab for educational material that you might find helpful. The "Help for Mental Illnesses" tab has information on who can diagnose and treat, and how to get affordable care in your area (USA only.) Centers for Disease Control - Another front page for ADHD. This also covers diagnosis and treatment, research, statistical information, and contains publications you can read or print for free. American Psychiatric Association - Adult ADHD is the first topic addressed in this link. Not in a lot of depth, but it is acknowledged. Most of the best information is in the linked pdf , ADHD Parents Medication Guide, which is 45 pages that covers diagnosis and treatment in depth, and includes information about behavioral and social treatments. Towards the end, there are brief overviews of changes in ADHD in adolescence and adulthood, and links to other support organizations. Following those are links to specific articles on ADHD and ADHD with comorbid conditions, in English and in Spanish, and some book recommendations on the last few pages. Yes, the links in the pdf are clickable. This one will probably take you the most time and give you the most stuff to explore.

National Resource Center for ADHD - Diagnosis of ADHD in Adults covers a lot of information on ADHD in general with some specifics about adults. Also useful if you want to know what a diagnosis usually entails and where you should look to get one. Helpguide.org - Adult ADD / ADHD Signs, Symptoms, Effects, and Treatment has myths and facts followed by symptoms and problems that affect adults, encouragement, and some ideas on dealing with it.
