How do other alcoholics deal with ADHD? I'm on Ritalin but know it is useless, even harmful, while I'm on the piss. And my psychiatrist won't prescribe it again until I get off the grog. I really don't want go back into detox for a fourth time. Thoughts?

Well I was on Vyvanse and Adderall, worked great when I wasn't drunk, but I was usually always drunk. I have tried in the past rehab, but not very successful, I was very non compliant with medication and treatment, fast forward to my OWI arrest and host of other things, I was giving an ultimatum to become sober, or I will have consequences to face. In the past I was prescribed Acomprosate and Gabapentin to reduce and eliminate crazing but no success. I was advised by my psychiatrist to take Antabuse as a way to eliminate drinking. My first thought was, I'll just stop taking that shit if I need a drink, typical alcoholic thinking, but I did start taking the medication and as well as my other meds provided by my psychiatrist, saw my therapist every 1-2 weeks, and after 12 years of being an hardcore alcoholic, on JUNE 2ND, 2020 I WILL ALCOHOL FREE FOR 1WHOLE FUCKING YEAR!! Never thought it would ever happened, but I still take the Antabuse daily and it has been such a lifesaver. ADHD/BIPOLAR disorder really is serious and substance/alcohol abuse is very high amongst people with the diagnosis, but take a couple of days to do the detox, just for withdrawal monitoring and see if you would consider the ANTABUSE, it's so worth it and what do you have to loss. How this helps
