Hi, Just been diagnosed with ADHD at 37. Have spent years living with the consequences of untreated ADHD. Won’t bore you all with ‘War’ stories. I’ve been refused medication due to past issues that prevent me from getting a prescription. In essence I now know why my life has been a car crash and an unmitigated disaster but I seem to be unable to do anything about it. I feel really let down and confused. My ADHD associates in the U.S have no problems with diagnosis, treatment or understanding. I’ve found the U.K to consider it a mere ‘inconvenience’ than a condition that believe me almost drove me to suicide a number of times. Has anyone else been refused medication or treatment for historical reasons, either health related, substance misuse, propensity to not engage in treatment? I’d be interested to hear others experiences. Thanks
